A new survey from The Harris Poll® finds that almost six in ten Americans (58%) are wine buyers, and they're still buying more frequently than they were five years ago. US wine consumption set its 16th straight annual growth record in 2008.According to the poll released last week, "Even in hard economic times (and maybe more so because of them) Americans are still buying and drinking wine, both from the US and from other countries. These wine producing countries need to let American wine buyers know they're out there, and showcase the types of wines they offer. In these tough times, if they can make a case for being more affordable, that might also help spur their sales."
